Rating match: Grand Designs ties with Natures Great Events

Grand Designs, a consumer show for design and innovation, has achieved impressive ratings alongside Nature’s Great Events: both shows averaged 4 million viewers during the 9:00 pm hour on Wednesday, March 4th.

Grand Designs and Nature’s Great Events, both of which are narrated by David Attenborough, averaged an 18 per cent audience share, according to the unofficial stats following the show. Grand Designs was watched by an additional 255,000 viewers on the catch-up service an hour later. Wednesday evening’s installment of Nature’s Great Events examined the phenomenon of ocean tides. Both shows outdid a repeat of police drama Taggart, which drew a close 3.9 million viewers and achieved a 17 per cent share during the 9:00 pm hour. Read more

The nominations for this year’s Royal Television Society programme have recently been announced - as they once again aim to recognise some of the best works aired on television.

Included in the nominees is the English Civil War drama, The Devil’s Whore, which has received a nod for best drama serial. The scriptwriter for the show, Peter Flannery, has been shortlisted for the best writer award, while the programme’s star, Andrea Riseborough, has been nominated for best actress. Read more
